The business was established by Heiner Völk (CEO) in 2011. Before starting his own business, Heiner Völk was Head of Business Development & Intellectual Property Management. As a member of the management team he reported directly to the CEO. Between 1999 and 2011 Heiner Völk held positions with increasing responsibilities in four biopharmaceutical companies.

During the 12 years prior to switching to the business side in 1999, Heiner Völk conducted research in immunology, oncology and infectious diseases in San Francisco (USA), Brighton (UK), Basel (Switzerland) and Martinsried near Munich (Germany).

Heiner Völk holds a PhD (immunology), a post-graduate MSc focusing on crossfunctional management facilitating successful pharmaceutical development and commercialization (Pharmaceutical Medicine), and another MSc (biochemistry, cell and microbiology). He also received substantial training in business economics.

As a student and during the time when he was active as lab scientist, he was awarded four highly competitive and prestigious fellowships by industry-affiliated (3) and party-affiliated (1) foundations.
